Algeria – An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale struck Medea province, about 90 kilometers south of the Algerian capital, on Sunday morning. No casualties or damage were reported.

The Algerian Center for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located two kilometers northeast of the Mihoub area in the province of Medea.

The same area had experienced a less intense earthquake measuring 2.3 on the Richter scale on September 15. This reflects the minor seismic activity the state has been experiencing in recent months.

It’s worth noting that Algeria is located in a seismically active zone along its northern coast. It has experienced devastating earthquakes in the past, most notably the 2003 Boumerdes earthquake.
