Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine has regained more than 170 square kilometers of territory near the town of Dobropelia in the east during recent counterattacks.
He added that Russian forces lost approximately 3,200 soldiers during the operation.
Zelensky pointed out that Ukrainian forces are facing difficult conditions on several fronts.
Including near the city of Kubyansk in the Kharkiv border region, and in areas between Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk.
In early August (August), Russian forces unexpectedly penetrated the front lines east of Dobropilia, advancing about 20 kilometers.
After the deployment of Ukrainian reserves, they were partially pushed back.
But Ukrainian military analysts painted a less optimistic picture than the government’s narrative in Kiev.
For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday evening that its forces had taken control of Zarechny (also known as Kirovsk) in the Donetsk region of Ukraine.
In another context, the Ukrainian army announced on Monday that it had shot down a Russian helicopter using a remote-controlled drone.
Robert Brovdi, commander of the Ukrainian Drone Corps, said in a post on Telegram that the downed helicopter was an MI–8.
The 59th Brigade explained that the helicopter was shot down near the village of Kotlyarevka in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
The front line is a few hundred meters away from the aforementioned village.
According to media reports, an American-made Shrek remote-controlled suicide drone, which costs only a few hundred dollars, was used in the attack.
