Moscow, Russia – Russia said on Sunday that it had struck military targets in the intense air attack it carried out on Ukraine on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, Kiev authorities reported that 4 people were killed and dozens injured, noting that the massive attack lasted 12 hours.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that Russian forces launched a major strike last night against institutions affiliated with the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.
For his part, the coordinator of the pro-Russian secret working groups in the Nikolaev region, Sergei Lebedev, said on Sunday that Russian forces launched a series of strikes targeting military sites in and around Kiev, targeting weapons depots and air defense systems.
Lebedev added that the strikes were carried out through successive waves of drones and missiles, each wave containing between 10 and 20 drones.
Lebedev said the strikes also included air defense targets in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and the Odessa region.
In a related context, Lebedev reported that the Russian army targeted the main base of the Ukrainian Navy in the Ochakov region of Nikolaev Province.
He pointed out that the strikes coincided with attacks on supply points in Kirovograd Oblast.
Lebedev explained that the naval base, in addition to warehouses and military training areas in Nikolaev, was subjected to three concentrated attacks.
He stressed that the operation resulted in the destruction of strategic targets of the Ukrainian Navy.
Zelensky: Massive Russian attack
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced earlier on Sunday on his Facebook page that Russia had launched about 500 attack drones and more than 40 missiles, including Kinzhal missiles, at Ukrainian cities overnight and until Sunday morning.

Zelensky added that the main targets of the attack were the city of Kiev, the Kiev region, and the regions of Zaporizhia, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Odessa.
