Unique Russian experience

During his speech at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) World Atomic Week forum, Putin explained that Russia is the only country with comprehensive experience in building nuclear power plants. This expertise covers all stages of the technological chain. He said that this gives Russia a leading position in the international market.

Balance between development and nuclear security

The Russian President stressed the need to regulate regulatory frameworks. A delicate balance must be ensured between the development of peaceful nuclear energy and the preservation of the nuclear non-proliferation regime. He added that Moscow is committed to all its commitments to its international partners.

Uranium resources are at risk

Putin pointed to international forecasts that uranium resources could be depleted by 2090. This could happen even earlier, during the 2060s. This calls for the development of alternative technologies to ensure continued nuclear development.

Support for the countries of the South and the East

The Russian president noted that the greatest growth in demand for peaceful nuclear energy will come from countries in the Global South and East. He also affirmed that his country supports these countries in achieving a qualitative leap in development. This will improve the living standards of their people.

Call for international cooperation

Putin announced that Russia is establishing a global research center in Ulyanovsk. This center will conduct experiments on advanced materials for closed-loop nuclear energy. He invited scientists from various countries to participate in developing technologies. These will pave the way for a new nuclear era.

Meetings with international delegations

On the sidelines of the forum, Putin met with the heads of participating foreign delegations, including International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi. They discussed future cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

A major nuclear event in Moscow

It’s worth noting that the International Atomic Week Forum opened in the Russian capital, Moscow, at the VDNH complex. It’s the largest international event dedicated to the nuclear industry. This event coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Russian nuclear industry.
