WASHINGTON, United States – North Korea has set up a secret military base near its border with China, a think tank reported this week.
Experts believe Pyongyang is using the base to store long-range ballistic missiles.

The Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies reported that the undeclared ballistic missile base is located in North Pyongan Province. It is no more than 27 kilometers from the border with China.
The report said that the Sinbongdong base likely contains intercontinental ballistic missiles.
He added that among them are missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
The report warned that these missiles “could pose a nuclear threat to East Asia and the American continent”.
The report stated that the base is among many bases that North Korea has not announced.
These bases are used for ballistic missiles and as maintenance, support and storage facilities for missiles and warheads.
Some considered this report “the first in-depth open source study confirming the existence of Al Qaeda.”
The discovery of the base was announced in conjunction with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s recent call for a “rapid expansion” of his country’s nuclear capabilities.
Since the failure of the Hanoi summit between Kim and US President Donald Trump in 2019, North Korea has confirmed that it will not give up its weapons.
It also declared itself an “irreversibly” nuclear power.
