As-Suwayda, Syria – A video showing a field execution by shooting inside As-Suwayda National Hospital has sparked outrage in Syria in recent hours.
The video, transmitted by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, shows dozens of people wearing work uniforms inside the hospital, kneeling.
Then, armed elements pulled one of the people forcefully and then beat him before killing him with direct gunfire. The victim’s body was later dragged to a remote location.
The Syrian authorities have not yet issued any comment on the video, which was widely circulated on social media.
On July 13, violence broke out in Suwayda between Bedouin and Druze militants.
Government forces were deployed to stop the fighting, but the violence worsened as Israel carried out strikes on Syrian forces, saying they were aimed at supporting the Druze.
A US-brokered truce ended fighting that raged in the city of Suwayda and surrounding towns for about a week.
The authorities in Syria said they would investigate the clashes and formed a committee to investigate the painful events.
