Cairo, Egypt – Syrian artist Solaf Fawakherji confirmed that she is keen to choose works that reflect women’s and society issues, explaining that she always seeks to discover everything she loves with great passion.
Her passion for art remained present.
At the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival, Fawakhri stated that her passion for art has remained constant since the beginning and has not faded over the years. She also explained that her relationship with art began at a young age, as she first stood in front of the camera when she was eight years old. She noted that growing up with a love for classic Egyptian cinema played a significant role in shaping her artistic awareness, and affirmed that the dream of fame has been with her since childhood.
Between antiquities and art… passion decides the path
Despite her academic studies in archaeology and obtaining a master’s degree, she affirmed that art remained her first passion, noting her love for exploring diverse experiences in acting, directing, and visual arts. She cited prominent works such as the film “Halim” with Ahmed Zaki, directed by Sherif Arafa, and the film “Laylat El Baby Doll” alongside Mahmoud Abdel Aziz and Nour El Sherif. Despite these experiences…
Fear of failure
She admitted that fear of failure made her postpone expanding into the Egyptian market, which later led her to regret some missed opportunities. She emphasized that her apprehension about trying new things sometimes caused her to back out of certain projects, despite her strong desire to experiment, stressing that these feelings are a natural part of any artist’s journey.
Art is a message, and women’s issues are at the forefront.
She emphasized that she does not rely on chance in her choices, but rather seeks to present works that bear a clear imprint, especially those that discuss women’s issues, considering that these issues reflect the reality of society as a whole.
