Washington, USA – The organizing committee for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics announced that American pop star Mariah Carey will participate in the opening ceremony.
It is scheduled to take place on February 6, 2026, and she will be the first international artist
whose name will be revealed as part of the program for the highly anticipated event.
The 56-year-old singer will headline the opening show at Milan’s famous San Siro stadium.
This is an event expected to draw a large audience, with the number of attendees expected to exceed 60,000 spectators.
Ticket prices
Ticket prices ranged between 260 and 2000 euros, according to the organizing committee.
So far, only one other person has been announced as participating
in the opening ceremony: Italian actress Matilda De Angelis.
The remaining participants will be revealed gradually in the coming period.
The organizing committee said in a statement that Mariah Carey,
known worldwide for her distinctive voice and musical works that have transcended generations and cultures,
“It embodies the emotions and aspirations that accompany preparations
for the Olympic Games,” she explained, adding that the theme of the opening ceremony will be “harmony.”
In an unprecedented move in the history of the Olympic Games, the opening ceremony
will take place simultaneously at four different venues.

which are cities hosting the tournament.
The show is scheduled to last two and a half hours, with a focus on highlighting the “Italian spirit” and innovation.

in addition to conveying a “message of peace to the world.”
The ceremony also includes a special tribute to the world-renowned Italian designer Giorgio Armani,
a Milanese native and sports enthusiast, who passed away last September.
The committee explained that the opening ceremony, prepared by “Balitch Wonder Studio”,
will offer an exceptional artistic experience that blends Italian identity with human emotions.
This will be a special start to the Winter Games scheduled between February 6 and 22, 2026,
with the participation of international artists.
