Abu Dhabi, UAE – Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Mike Waltz, the US Ambassador to the United Nations, to discuss ways to strengthen the strategic relationship between the two countries.
They also discussed current regional developments and their implications for security and stability in the region.
The meeting, held in Abu Dhabi, addressed areas of cooperation between the UAE and the United States,
particularly within the framework of multilateral efforts and international organizations.
The latest political and security developments in the region were also reviewed.
Discussion of regional developments
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and the US representative to the UN reviewed the repercussions of the Iranian attacks targeting
the UAE and several other Arab countries, and their impact on international peace and security.
They also discussed the effect of these attacks on maritime security, energy supplies, and the stability of the global economy.
Furthermore, they discussed ongoing developments in several regional issues, most notably the situations in Sudan and Lebanon.
In addition, they addressed efforts to support stability and enhance prospects for lasting peace in the region.
Reaffirming American solidarity
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed his appreciation for the United States’ supportive stance towards the UAE,
praising Washington’s solidarity with his country in confronting the security challenges the region has witnessed recently.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and collective action to address current challenges.
They explained that this coordination contributes to strengthening regional security and protecting the shared interests of friendly nations.
Strengthening the strategic partnership
The meeting addressed prospects for developing UAE-US relations across various vital sectors,
given the continued growth of the partnership between the two countries at the political, economic, and security levels.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed emphasized the strength of the historical ties between the two nations.
He noted the shared commitment to expanding cooperation and opening new avenues for partnership to serve mutual interests.
He also explained that this contributes to enhancing stability and prosperity at both the regional and international levels.
Yousef Al Otaiba, the UAE Ambassador to the United States, also attended the meeting.
