Abu Dhabi, UAE – Al Wahda secured the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup title for the 2025-2026 season, after defeating Al Ain 4-2 on penalties. This came after the original time ended in a goalless draw, in the match that brought them together at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.
The match was thrilling from the start, with Al Ain dominating early and nearly opening the scoring on several occasions. The most notable chance came from a shot by Laba Kodjo, which was brilliantly saved by the outstanding goalkeeper Zayed Al Hammadi.
Al Wahda didn’t stand idly by, exchanging attacks with their opponents and nearly snatching the lead with a powerful shot from Facundo. But Khalid Eisa was there to make the save.
Zayed Al Hammadi continued his brilliance, saving several dangerous opportunities, most notably attempts by Laba Kodjo and Kaku, to keep a clean sheet and lead the match into its second half.
In the second half, Al Ain continued their attacking pressure in search of a go-ahead goal, but chances went begging, most notably a shot by Palacios that went just wide of the post. Al Wahda tried to respond through the efforts of Dusan Tadic, but neither side managed to find the net.
With the score tied until the final whistle, the two teams resorted to penalty kicks, which smiled on Al Wahda with a score of 4-2, so that “Al Annabi” won the fourth title in its history, and wrote a perfect end to its season.
