Abu Dhabi, UAE – During a field visit to the Abu Dhabi Vegetable Oil Company, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, affirmed the stability of strategic commodity price and their availability in sufficient and secure quantities in the markets. He also noted the country’s readiness to address all scenarios. This will ensure the continuity of food supplies.
Strengthening the food security system
Ibn Touq explained that the food industry, including the vegetable oil sector, is a cornerstone of strengthening national food security. He also emphasized the commitment to the latest quality and food safety standards. He stated that national companies play a pivotal role in ensuring the continuity of supply chains and meeting consumer needs. This reflects the “We Are the UAE 2031” vision.
Public-private partnership
The minister noted that the ministry is monitoring market developments daily, emphasizing its commitment to price stability and market transparency. Meanwhile, Her Excellency Badriya Al Maidoor, Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, confirmed the availability of essential goods at all retail outlets. She also highlighted the call center’s responsiveness to inquiries and complaints.
Regional and international expansion of the food sector
His Excellency inspected the various production stages at the company’s factory, which has a production capacity exceeding 200,000 tons annually, with storage tanks reaching up to 40,000 metric tons. In addition, there is a distribution network covering approximately 17 brands. These products reach markets in the Gulf, the Middle East, Asia, North Africa, and the Horn of Africa. Officials emphasized that investing in developing production capacities and modern technologies enhances the sustainability of food supplies. Furthermore, these measures ensure the stability of the local market amidst regional and international changes.
