Abu Dhabi, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, discussed the escalating military and security situation in the region during a phone call today with Roberta Mizzola, President of the European Parliament. They also discussed the implications of these developments for regional and international peace and security.
European condemnation of Iranian attacks
During the call, the President of the European Parliament condemned the Iranian attacks targeting the territory of the United Arab Emirates and several other countries in the region. She emphasized that these attacks constitute a serious violation of state sovereignty and a direct threat to regional security and stability.
She stressed that the continuation of such attacks contributes to increased tension and escalation in the Middle East. This comes at a time when the region needs intensified efforts to contain crises and prevent the spread of conflict.
Affirming solidarity with the UAE
The President of the European Parliament expressed the European Union’s solidarity with the UAE in the face of these attacks. She also commended the efficiency of its defense systems and their ability to protect the country’s security, the safety of its citizens, and its vital infrastructure.
She affirmed the support of European institutions for efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability in the region. She also emphasized working with international partners to prevent further military escalation that could threaten regional and international security.
Emirati appreciation of the European position
For his part, the President of the UAE expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the position taken by the President of the European Parliament, and the solidarity it conveyed with the UAE in the face of threats targeting its security and stability.
During the call, both sides emphasized the importance of intensifying international and regional efforts to enhance stability in the region. They also stressed the necessity of joint action to prevent military escalation and protect the security of states and the safety of their people in light of the delicate circumstances the region is experiencing.
