Abu Dhabi, UAE – Amelia Lakrafi, Member of the French Parliament for French people residing in Africa and the Middle East, and Secretary-General of the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly, stressed that the UAE has a pioneering model in empowering women and enhancing their participation in parliamentary work and their effective contribution to the decision-making process.
On the sidelines of the second session of the Mediterranean Parliament’s Women Parliamentarians Forum, which kicked off on Tuesday and is hosted by the UAE and organized by the Federal National Council, she said that empowering women today constitutes a fundamental pillar in the efforts of all countries to achieve sustainable development and economic progress, and that the UAE has succeeded in achieving remarkable accomplishments in this file.
She expressed her pride in participating in the forum, which provided an ideal platform for exchanging opinions and experiences, and learning about the efforts made on integration issues.
She pointed out that the UAE pays great attention to integration issues, especially the integration of women, and is constantly working to give them opportunities to achieve excellence and achievement in various fields.
She added that the UAE has clear legislation and a strong will to support women’s presence and enhance their participation in the decision-making process.
In addition to its growing role in various sectors, including economic institutions, in addition to supporting its presence in international organizations and bodies.

She pointed out that women’s parliamentary forums constitute an important tool for enhancing international cooperation and exchanging best legislative practices.
