Abu Dhabi, UAE – Al Ain regained the top spot in the UAE league standings after securing a valuable 3-1 victory over Kalba in their match on Tuesday evening.
Al Ain visited Kalba at the latter’s stadium, as part of the 14th round of the ADNOC Professional League competition.
Al Ain opened the scoring in the 46th minute, through Kodjo Laba, after a pass from Soufiane Rahimi which he met with a wonderful scissor kick that found the back of the net.
In the 64th minute, Soufiane Rahimi capitalized on his team’s sustained pressure, scoring a second goal against Kalba. This brought Rahimi’s tally to 40 goals in 97 ADNOC Pro League appearances.
Kalba came back into the game with a goal to reduce the deficit in the 70th minute through Ahmed Nourallah, with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area that found the back of the net.
Yasser Hassan almost scored the equalizer for Kalba, but the precious opportunity to come back was wasted, allowing Al Ain to strengthen their lead and secure the victory with a third goal by Palacios in the 88th minute.
