Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity announced that the Palestinian humanitarian organization, Taawon, has been selected as the third honoree in its seventh edition for 2026,
in recognition of its extensive humanitarian and developmental contributions.
This selection comes alongside the historic peace agreement between the Republics of Azerbaijan and Armenia,
and Zarqa Yaftali, the Afghan advocate for women’s education.
The awards ceremony will be held on February 4, 2026, at the Founder’s Memorial in Abu Dhabi,
celebrating inspiring figures who have contributed to strengthening the values of human fraternity, coexistence, and peace around the world.
Making a direct impact on life
The Palestinian organization Taawon was chosen in recognition of its humanitarian role since its establishment in 1983.
It has successfully made a direct impact on the lives of more than one million people annually
in Palestine through investments exceeding one billion dollars in education, youth empowerment, orphan care, culture,
the restoration of historic towns, community development in the health and agriculture sectors, and emergency humanitarian response.
Throughout its history, the organization has implemented more than 8,200 development
and humanitarian projects, focusing on strengthening the resilience of Palestinian society, supporting youth,
and preserving cultural and civilizational heritage, in order to contribute to achieving sustainable development and long-term social cohesion.
Enhancing the resilience of communities
Counselor Mohamed Abdel Salam, Secretary-General of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, stated that honoring the Taawon Foundation celebrates
its long-standing humanitarian work in upholding human dignity and strengthening the resilience of communities amidst complex challenges.
He emphasized that the Foundation has presented a pioneering institutional model
that combines immediate relief with long-term development investment.
For his part, Dr. Nabil Hani Al-Qaddumi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Taawon Foundation,
expressed his pride in this international recognition, considering it a significant morale boost for the Foundation.
He added that it contributes to highlighting humanitarian and development priorities
in Palestine and enhances its ability to develop sustainable programs that serve Palestinian society.
Since its launch in 2019, the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity has honored 20 individuals and institutions
from around the world in recognition of their outstanding contributions to promoting the values of human fraternity, peace, and coexistence.
