Dubai, UAE – DP World Group “DB World” launched a new maritime transport service between Port Rashid in Dubai and Umm Qasr Port in the Republic of Iraq.

This is done via a direct transit line that takes only 36 hours.

In a move that provides a faster alternative to land freight, with the ability to accommodate up to 145 accompanying trailer vehicles on each trip.

The service was launched at Port Rashid with the official reception of the DB World Express ro-ro ship.

Which will operate the new line, after undergoing a comprehensive modernization program during the past period at the International Drydocks Company.

It is expected to begin operations this December.

The ship will transport the full, unpacked trailer vehicles in containers, with drivers traveling on board.

To provide a direct, integrated and safe solution for transporting goods to Bab Al-Mutamallam between the UAE and Iraq, and facilitate transit to neighboring countries.

This enhances the reliability of services and reduces the complications associated with border crossing.

The launch of the new service reflects the increasing demand from customers for faster movement and greater control over the accompanying trailers.

In addition to reducing handling requirements and simplifying planning processes in key business sectors.

The new line also enhances access to major commercial centers within Iraq, and supports broader connectivity with Jordan and Syria via existing land routes.

Which contributes to stimulating regional trade.

On the return trip, the DB World Express ship will transport goods intended for export from Iraq to the UAE..

To support bilateral trade and increase the efficiency of supply chains in the region.

The new service enhances DB World’s integrated logistics system and expands direct maritime connectivity options for non-containerized goods.

It also contributes to enhancing sustainability by reducing carbon emissions compared to other transportation and shipping options.
