Al Ain, United Arab Emirates – The National Committee for Sustainable Development Goals, in cooperation with the United Arab Emirates University, launched the Sustainable Development Goals Research Programme.
This is within the framework of national efforts aimed at enhancing the contribution of higher education institutions in supporting sustainable development goals.
In addition to consolidating the role of scientific research in developing practical and innovative solutions that contribute to achieving the global agenda 2030.
In line with the UAE’s future vision of building a sustainable knowledge economy.
The program launch event at the university’s Al Ain campus was attended by Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, Chairman of the National Committee for Sustainable Development Goals, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al Raisi, Director of the United Arab Emirates University, and a number of faculty members and university students.
During his speech at the event, Abdullah Nasser Lootah emphasized that the cooperation between the National Committee and the United Arab Emirates University represents a national model for integration between government agencies and academic institutions.
He stressed that the Sustainable Development Goals Research Program embodies in its goals and directions the visions of the UAE and the focus of its wise leadership on promoting scientific research because it represents a key tool for development and supporting decision-making processes.
It also affirms the program’s commitment to empowering youth and researchers to be partners in creating realistic solutions that enhance the achievement of sustainable development goals.
The program focuses on encouraging students to develop applied scientific research covering multiple fields such as climate, energy, environment, health, education, and economic growth.
In addition to enhancing their skills in research, analysis, and formulating sustainable scientific solutions.
