Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The UAE national Muay Thai team won 3 medals in the sixth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games.
Bringing the UAE’s tally to 11 medals, including two gold, one silver, and eight bronze.
The tournament is currently being held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
Mohamed Marzi succeeded in winning the gold medal in the 65–70 kg weight class, in the final against the Saudi player Amer Al-Enezi.
Zainab Bou Hamada also won silver in the 50–55 kg weight category, after a strong confrontation against Turkish player Gulistan Turan.
While Elias Habib won a bronze medal in the 75–80 kg weight class, in his fight against the Afghan Saeed Hamid Sadat.
Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, Vice President of the International Federation, President of the Asian and Arab Muay Thai Federations, and President of the Emirates Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, praised the honorable level of the team.
This embodies the growing development of this sport at the continental and international levels, with the support of the country’s leadership.
He said: “The achievements of our champions in the great Islamic sports gathering are the result of the systematic and ambitious work of the Federation, the high commitment and competitive spirit of the players in all their matches, and an important milestone in the journey of the national teams, and enhance confidence in their ability to compete and achieve more qualitative achievements during the upcoming events.”
Player Mohamed Mardi confirmed that the competition was strong in various roles.
This was a great motivation to reach the podium, amid strong competition from participants in various weights.
