Cairo, Egypt – The match between the UAE and Iraq ended in a positive draw of one goal each, in the first leg of the fifth Asian playoff qualifying for the 2026 World Cup finals, during the match that brought them together at the “Mohammed bin Zayed” stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The Lions of Mesopotamia scored the opening goal in the 10th minute through Ali Al Hammadi, before the Whites responded with an equalizer in the 18th minute through Luan Pereira, ending the match in a 1-1 draw.
With that result, the two teams await the return match to determine who qualifies for the World Cup 2026 qualifying play-off.
