Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The final qualifiers for the communities category in the ninth session of the Arab Reading Challenge, the largest reading event of its kind in the Arabic language in the world, began in Dubai on Tuesday.
This is to determine the top three finishers in this category.
The champion of the communities category will be announced on Thursday during the closing ceremony of the ninth session hosted by the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The male and female students competing in the final qualifiers in the communities category succeeded in completing several stages over the course of the ninth session.
During the final stage, which is taking place in Dubai, participants will undergo an oral test to determine their special skills.
The competitors will review in classical Arabic the most prominent ideas and main points that they were inspired by the 25 books they read.
The jury works to measure their reading output as a whole, and their ability to express it in their own style.
It requires the student to demonstrate distinctive abilities in discussion, criticism, analysis, and linking different ideas and concepts.

Raising the status of reading

He pointed out the vital role played by members of communities in preserving the Arabic language and introducing Arab culture in their countries of residence.
The ninth session of the Arab Reading Challenge initiative witnessed record participation, reaching more than 32 million male and female students from 50 countries.
They represent 132,112 schools, under the supervision of 161,040 male and female supervisors.

Consolidating the love of knowledge
The Arab Reading Challenge, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in 2015 as the world’s largest reading competition and project, aims to enhance the importance of reading among participating students across the Arab world and the world.
