In 2019, the Council played a pivotal role in nominating and selecting the Emirate of Sharjah as a creative city. This nomination was in the field of crafts and folk arts by UNESCO.

This recognition was a testament to the Council’s embrace of one of the most ancient Emirati crafts, “Tali.”
