Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE-Qatar Joint Higher Committee concluded its seventh session in Abu Dhabi. This took place amidst a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation and integration between the UAE and Qatar, serving mutual interests and supporting regional stability.
Strategic cooperation and economic partnerships
The meetings were chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan from the UAE and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani from Qatar. Both sides affirmed that bilateral relations are moving towards a more advanced stage based on strategic partnership and integration across various fields. They also emphasized the importance of strengthening economic cooperation by developing the business environment. Furthermore, they stressed the need to stimulate mutual investments and support public-private partnerships. In addition, progress has been made in preparing financial agreements, avoiding double taxation, and enhancing cooperation between investment entities in both countries.
Focus on the economy of the future
Discussions between the UAE and Qatar also focused on new economy sectors, particularly artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and cybersecurity. Furthermore, there was an emphasis on exchanging expertise in digital infrastructure and government services, which will contribute to building a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy. The session witnessed the signing of several agreements, most notably an agreement on the promotion and protection of investment. The two sides also signed memoranda of understanding in the fields of agriculture, food security, and municipal cooperation, which will support the development of supply chains and enhance food security.
Prospects for broader cooperation
At the conclusion of the meetings, both sides affirmed their commitment to implementing the committee’s outcomes through the appropriate channels and to expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including health, education, culture, and media. They also agreed to hold the next session in Qatar, with the aim of advancing bilateral relations to a more integrated and comprehensive level.
