Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Confirming its position as a key driver of economic growth, Dubai International Airport achieved record performance during the first half of 2025, welcoming approximately 46 million passengers, marking the highest passenger traffic volume in its history.
This 2.3% annual growth reflects the significant momentum enjoyed by Dubai’s aviation sector and the airport’s efficient operations in maintaining high operating levels despite the temporary challenges the region experienced and the impact on regional airspace during May and June. This achievement reaffirms the pivotal role played by Dubai International Airport in connecting Dubai to the world and enhancing the emirate’s economic growth.
Dubai International Airport welcomed 22.5 million passengers during the second quarter of this year, a 3.1% growth compared to the same period in 2024. April, during the second quarter of 2025, was the busiest month in the history of Dubai International Airport, with 8 million passengers passing through all of its terminals.

The upcoming edition of the Dubai Airshow 2025 will be a landmark event that is expected to surpass previous records and reflect the ambitious vision that shapes the future of the aviation and aerospace sectors. Based on the performance achieved so far, and the positive outlook for the coming months, we expect total passenger traffic through Dubai International Airport to reach 96 million passengers by the end of this year, which will enable us to reach the 100 million passenger mark,” he added.
Performance and efficiency
Average monthly passenger traffic during the first half of the year reached 7.7 million passengers, with a daily average of 254,000 passengers. January was the busiest month in terms of passenger traffic during the first half, setting a new monthly record of 8.5 million passengers.
During the first half of the year, the airport handled more than 222,000 flights, with a load factor (seat occupancy) of 76%. The airport also efficiently handled 41.8 million bags, 91% of which were delivered within 45 minutes of arrival. The delayed baggage rate was only two bags per 1,000 passengers, exceeding the global average recorded in 2024 of 6.3 bags per 1,000 passengers, according to data from SITA, the global information and communications technology provider for the aviation sector. Baggage handling at Dubai International Airport is expected to exceed 85 million bags this year, surpassing the previous record of 81.2 million bags in 2024. The period between January 3 and 5 recorded the highest number of bags handled daily, at 300,000 bags.
Dubai International Airport also maintained exceptional levels of efficiency across all service points, with 99.2% of departing passengers passing through passport control in less than 10 minutes, 98.4% of arriving passengers completing passport control in less than 15 minutes, and 98.7% of passengers completing security checks in less than 5 minutes.
Main markets and destinations
India maintained its position as the largest destination for passengers traveling through Dubai International Airport during the first half of this year, with 5.9 million passengers, followed by Saudi Arabia with 3.6 million passengers, the United Kingdom with 3 million passengers, Pakistan with 2.1 million passengers, and the United States with 1.6 million passengers. London also topped the list of busiest city destinations in terms of passenger numbers, with 1.8 million passengers, followed by Riyadh with 1.5 million passengers, Mumbai with 1.2 million passengers, Jeddah and Delhi with 1.1 million each, and Istanbul with 982,000 passengers.
Air freight and connectivity
During the first half of this year, Dubai International Airport handled more than one million tons of cargo, a slight increase of 0.1% compared to the same period last year. This exceptional performance confirms the significant role Dubai International Airport plays in supporting global trade, logistics, and supply chains.
Dubai International Airport currently connects to more than 269 destinations in over 107 countries around the world, through a network of more than 92 international airlines, enhancing Dubai’s position as a global hub for aviation, trade, tourism, and investment.

As the second half of 2025 approaches, Dubai is gearing up for a significant increase in travel, beginning with the peak of the back-to-school season and a winter season packed with international events.
