Moscow, Russia – The Russian military announced today that it had thwarted a Ukrainian attempt to send air supplies to its besieged forces on one of the battlefronts on the eastern front, in a new blow to Ukrainian logistical capabilities amid escalating military operations.

According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, air surveillance systems detected movements of drones and small cargo planes that were attempting to drop equipment and ammunition on the positions of the besieged Ukrainian forces, before they were intercepted and shot down by Russian defense fire.

The Russian Defense Ministry spokesman explained that the operation comes within the framework of what he described as “complete control” of the airspace in the combat zones, noting that Russian forces were able to destroy Ukrainian weapons depots and command centers during the past hours.

Russian military sources confirmed that the failure of the air supply represents a devastating blow to the besieged Ukrainian forces, who are suffering from a severe shortage of ammunition and supplies, at a time when Russian units are steadily advancing on several fronts.
