Houston, USA – Ibrahim Diaz, the star of the Moroccan national team, expressed his great happiness at leading the “Atlas Lions” to the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, stressing that the quality of the national team players was the decisive factor in overcoming the obstacle of Canada.
The Moroccan national team achieved a clean 3-0 victory over their Canadian counterparts, thus continuing their journey in the tournament and securing their place among the top eight.
Diaz said, in statements reported by Mundo Deportivo: “We are very happy to have qualified. It was a difficult match, especially in the first half, but we managed to deal with the details of the match and made the difference thanks to the potential we have”.
He added: “Canada played well, but we showed a strong character on the field. We have a cohesive group that believes in its abilities, and that’s what helped us achieve victory”.
The Real Madrid player spoke about his attacking contributions, after setting up two goals in the match, saying: “I am happy to help my teammates, but the most important thing for me is for the national team to continue in the tournament. Even if I don’t participate, I will be happy as long as Morocco continues to achieve victories”.
He also praised the fans’ support, stressing: “Since joining the national team, I have felt the love of the Moroccan fans, and I try to repay this support by giving my best on the field”.
He concluded his remarks by talking about the possibility of facing Spain in the next rounds, saying: “It would be a special match if it happened, but our focus right now is entirely on the quarter-finals”.
For his part, Ayoub Bouadi expressed his pride in wearing the Moroccan national team jersey, stressing that representing the “Atlas Lions” is a great source of pride for him.
Bouadi said: “I am extremely proud to play for Morocco, and we will prepare in the best possible way for the next match, regardless of who the opponent is”.
He added: “Canada presented us with significant difficulties in the first half, but we discussed the matter with the coaching staff between halves, and we succeeded in finding solutions that gave us the advantage in the second half of the match”.
