Cairo, Egypt – Maher Gharib, Director of Media at Zamalek SC, revealed details of the meeting held between club officials and Brazilian winger Juan Alvina Bezerra following his return to Egypt. He confirmed that a financial penalty had been imposed on the player and that his apology for his actions had been accepted, noting, however, that the player still wishes to leave.
Maher Gharib stated on the “Modern MTI” channel that the Bezerra file has not yet been closed. Furthermore, no final decision has been made regarding whether he will remain with Zamalek or leave during the current transfer window.
He explained that the latest meeting involved discussing all details regarding the player’s future and outlining the steps to finalize the matter. He noted that Zamalek had set several conditions, some of which have begun to be met recently.
He confirmed that the club had imposed a fine of $100,000 on Bezerra in accordance with internal regulations. He noted that the player accepted the penalty without objection or debate.
Gharib noted that the player’s apology to the Zamalek management and the club’s fans was a key prerequisite for further discussions regarding his future. He confirmed that Bezerra had offered his apology and expressed his readiness to face the consequences of his recent actions.
Regarding offers to sign the player, Zamalek’s media director explained that the club outlined its financial demands upon receiving a $7 million offer from the UAE’s Shabab Al-Ahli. The club also requested a 20% share of any future resale value.
He added that the initial offer from Shabab Al-Ahli amounted to $6 million, plus $1 million in additional incentives. He emphasized that Zamalek’s management had not altered its financial terms and that the club had previously sent an official letter in response to the offer.
Ghareeb emphasized that Bezerra’s insistence on leaving does not mean his transfer has been finalized. He noted that the player wishes to embark on a new experience, but Zamalek remains firm on the conditions it has set for approving his departure.
He revealed that the administration will announce its final administrative decisions regarding the player during the coming period, according to what was reached during the last session.
Gharib discussed the differing ways players approach offers from abroad. He explained that foreign players often prioritize financial aspects when deciding on their future, whereas Egyptian players may allow emotion to play a more significant role in such decisions.
He concluded his remarks by denying reports that the proceeds from the sale of Bassem Morsi (Bezzera) would be allocated to members of the club’s board of directors. He emphasized that any funds Zamalek receives from the deal would be used to settle obligations and outstanding dues, as well as to meet the team’s needs.
