Madrid, Spain – Barcelona captain Raphinha has the chance to make history with the Catalan club when his team faces hosts Levante this Sunday evening in Matchday 5 of the 2026–2027 Spanish League season.
Raphinha is off to a strong start with Barcelona this season, topping the La Liga goalscoring chart with six goals—level with Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé and Rayo Vallecano striker Sergio Camello.
The Brazilian player is looking to find the back of the net against Levante in order to achieve a goal-scoring milestone that only two players in Barcelona’s history have reached in the Spanish League.
Mundo Deportivo newspaper revealed that Rafinha’s scoring in the match would make him the third player in Barcelona’s history to score goals during the first five rounds of a Spanish League season.
César Rodríguez previously achieved this feat during the 1950–1951 season by scoring nine goals in the first five matches; later, the Swede Zlatan Ibrahimović replicated the feat in the 2009–2010 season by scoring six goals.
Since Ibrahimović’s feat in 2010, no other Barcelona player has managed to score in each of their first five consecutive La Liga matches—a record Raphinha hopes to equal in the match against Levante.
The milestones Raphinha is chasing do not stop there; his tally for Barcelona has reached 83 goals, placing him fifth on the list of Brazilian players with the most goals for the Catalan club.
Surpassing Raphinha on the list are Rivaldo with 130 goals, Evaristo with 105 goals, Neymar with 105 goals, and Ronaldinho with 94 goals.
“Mundo Deportivo” indicates the possibility of Rafinha rising to the top of the list of Brazilian scorers in Barcelona’s history, especially with his current adoption in the position of outright striker, after his best scoring season with the team was during the year 2025, when he scored 34 goals in various tournaments.
