Cairo, Egypt – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the dates for the preliminary round draws for the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup for the new season. The draws are scheduled to take place this week at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
Zamalek and Pyramids will compete in the CAF Champions League, while Al Ahly and Zimbabwe will participate in the CAF Confederation Cup, after the Egyptian quotas for the two continental competitions were finalized.
CAF explained that the draw ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 6, with the Confederation Cup draw starting at 3:00 PM UAE time (2:00 PM Egypt time). This will be followed by the Champions League draw at 4:00 PM UAE time (3:00 PM Egypt time), to determine the preliminary round matchups.
The two draw ceremonies are scheduled to be broadcast live on the Confederation of African Football’s YouTube channel, allowing fans across the continent to follow the event.
Prizes for both tournaments
The African Champions League winner receives a financial prize of $6 million, while the winner of the Confederation Cup receives $4 million.
The African Union also allocates $100,000 to each club participating in the preliminary rounds of the two tournaments, as part of its plan to support clubs participating in continental competitions and enhance their financial resources.
