The Mexican national team achieved a perfect record in their first two matches, opening their campaign with a 2-0 victory over South Africa. They then defeated South Korea 1-0, bringing their total to 6 points and securing their place in the knockout stages.

This result secured the hosts’ early qualification, as no more than two teams in the group could surpass the “Green Team’s” points tally.
Mexico topped Group A with 6 points, ahead of South Korea in second place with 3 points. The Czech Republic and South Africa each have one point.
The 2026 World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams, divided into 12 groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the round of 32, along with the eight best third-placed teams.
Having already secured qualification, the Mexican national team will play their final group stage match against the Czech Republic. They will aim to confirm their top spot in the group and enter the knockout stages with a psychological and technical advantage.
According to the tournament format, the winner of Group A will face one of the third-placed teams from Groups C, E, F, H, or J in the Round of 32. This is determined based on the final standings of the first round.
