Rabat, Morocco – Mohamed Wahbi, the technical director of the Moroccan national team, confirmed that the 4-0 victory over Madagascar represents a new step in the preparations for the 2026 World Cup finals, stressing that all players enjoy the same confidence within the ranks of the “Atlas Lions”.
The Moroccan national team achieved a resounding 4-0 victory over Madagascar in a match held at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, as part of their preparations for the World Cup.
Wahbi said in statements following the meeting: “We do not differentiate between a starting player and a substitute player, as all elements are part of the national team project, and the most important thing for us during this stage is to reach the World Cup without injuries”.
He added: “During the camp, we worked on enhancing harmony and competition among the players, especially after the recent break, and the goal was to continue building a team capable of performing at its best in the tournament”.
The Moroccan coach expressed his satisfaction with the team’s collective performance, explaining: “We focused on quickly regaining possession of the ball when we lost it, and the players succeeded in doing what was required, but we realize that today’s victory is just one stop on our preparation program”.
Wahbi spoke about the condition of some of the players, saying: “The camp witnessed some minor injuries, and some players suffered from fatigue or mild health problems, but the overall situation is reassuring”.
The coach of the “Atlas Lions” praised the levels presented by the players during the match, stressing that all the players took advantage of the opportunity to prove their abilities.
Regarding the upcoming match against Norway, he said: “It will be an important test for us, because it will give us a clearer picture of our true level before the start of the World Cup, and we will strive to deliver a strong performance, both with and without the ball”.
Wahbi concluded his remarks by thanking the Moroccan fans, stressing that their continued support is a great incentive for the team, and expressing his hope to make them happy during the World Cup journey.
The Moroccan national team will compete in the 2026 World Cup in Group C, which includes Brazil, Haiti and Scotland.
