Madrid, Spain – Real Madrid mourned the death of the father of German coach Hansi Flick, manager of Barcelona, who passed away hours before the highly anticipated Spanish Clasico match.
Barcelona are scheduled to meet Real Madrid this Sunday evening at Camp Nou, in the 35th round of the Spanish League.
Real Madrid said in an official statement on its website: “Real Madrid, its president and board members express their deepest condolences on the passing of the father of Hansi Flick, the Barcelona coach.”
The statement added: “Real Madrid extends its deepest condolences to Hansi Flick, his family, and all his relatives and loved ones, asking God to have mercy on the deceased.”
Barcelona leads the Spanish league standings with 88 points, while Real Madrid is in second place with 77 points.
