Brighton, England – Chelsea suffered a heavy defeat against their host Brighton by three goals to nil, in the match that brought them together on Tuesday evening, as part of the 34th round of the English Premier League.
Chelsea entered the match looking to strengthen their position in the standings, but they were met with a strong performance from the home side, who dominated the game from the opening minutes.
Verdi Kadiglio opened the scoring early for Brighton in the fourth minute, before Jack Hinchlwood extended the lead with a second goal in the 56th minute, taking advantage of Chelsea’s defensive lapses.
In stoppage time, Danny Welbeck fired the final shot, scoring the third goal in the 90+1 minute, confirming his team’s superiority and deciding the match definitively.
With this result, Brighton raised its tally to 50 points to climb to sixth place, while Chelsea’s tally remained frozen at 48 points in seventh place, complicating its task in competing for European places.
