Manchester City, England – Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praised Egyptian star Mohamed Salah following the announcement of his expected departure from Liverpool at the end of the current season, asserting that he is one of the greatest players in the history of the English Premier League.
Guardiola’s comments came during the press conference ahead of the two teams’ highly anticipated FA Cup quarter-final clash, scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, at the Etihad Stadium.
The Manchester City manager said: “Mohamed Salah is one of the greatest players. His incredible numbers and consistency at the highest level for years confirm that he is an exceptional player, not only on the pitch but also as a person”.
He added: “Salah is a true legend for Liverpool and the Premier League. Looking at his goals and assists, we realize the magnitude of his impact. I think this is the right moment to bid him farewell in a way that he deserves, in recognition of what he has given to football, especially in England.”
Salah recently suffered a muscle injury during Liverpool’s Champions League match against Galatasaray, which ended in a 4-0 victory for the Reds. This caused him to miss the Premier League match against Brighton, which the team lost 2-1.
The Egyptian national team captain also missed the March international training camp, during which Egypt played two friendly matches, defeating Saudi Arabia 4-0 and drawing 0-0 with Spain.
Salah’s return represents a significant boost for Liverpool ahead of their highly anticipated clash against Manchester City, given his crucial role as one of the team’s key attacking players.
