Rabat, Morocco – Wydad Casablanca has officially announced the termination of its contract with coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem by mutual agreement. This comes after a recent decline in the team’s performance.
Benhachem’s departure came after Wydad’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals, following their loss to Olympique Safi.
The Moroccan club said in an official statement: “Wydad Athletic Club announces the termination of its contract with coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem by mutual agreement,” adding that it appreciates the coach’s contributions during his time leading the team.
The statement added that the club’s management extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to Benhashem for his efforts, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
In a related development, Moroccan press reports indicate that Patrice Carteron is close to taking over as head coach of the team. He has reportedly reached an agreement with Wydad’s management to lead the team until the end of the current season.
Through this move, Wydad’s management seeks to restore technical stability and correct its course, after a series of unsatisfactory results in the recent period.
