London, England – Press reports indicate that the future of Dutch coach Arne Slot with Liverpool is now in serious doubt, given the team’s recent poor results.
Liverpool enters a crucial week that could determine the fate of its coach, after the team stumbled in the English Premier League with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, which cost them a drop in the standings.
According to the “TEAMtalk” website, the club’s management is considering sacking Slott if the negative results continue, especially with the team failing to achieve the expected level despite the large spending in the summer transfer market.
The report indicated that Liverpool’s upcoming match against Turkish side Galatasaray could be decisive in the coach’s fate, as any result that does not lead the team to qualify could hasten his departure from his position.
He added that Liverpool’s management is putting in place a backup plan in case Slott leaves, in which club legend Steven Gerrard may take over temporarily.
Liverpool need to win by at least two goals in the second leg against Galatasaray to overcome their 1-0 first-leg defeat and secure their place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Liverpool currently occupy fifth place in the English Premier League standings with 49 points.
