Cairo, Egypt – Al Ahly suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat against Tala’ea El Gaish in their Egyptian Premier League match.
The match was held at the Military Academy Stadium, as part of a postponed match from the 15th round of the Nile League Championship.
Match events
Tala’ea El-Gaish started the match strongly and managed to take an early lead in the fourth minute through Mohamed Atef. He deflected Mohamed Fathallah’s shot, sending the ball into Al-Ahly’s net.
Al Ahly tried to respond quickly, with Marwan Osman firing a powerful shot in the eighth minute after a pass from Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet. However, the Tala’ea El Gaish goalkeeper made the save.
Mohamed Atef threatened Al Ahly’s goal again in the 15th minute with a powerful shot that went just past the post.
In the 21st minute, Al-Ahly managed to equalize through Hadi Riad, who scored from inside the penalty area. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
At the start of the second half, Al Ahly’s performance dipped somewhat. Tala’ea El Gaish capitalized on this, scoring the winning goal in the 61st minute through Khaled Abouzeid, who followed up on a shot by Ouro Agoro.
Al Ahly tried to get back into the game during the remaining minutes, but they failed to score an equalizer. The match ended with Tala’ea El Gaish winning 2-1.
Team standings
With that result, Al Ahly’s points tally remained at 40, keeping them in third place. Meanwhile, Tala’ea El Gaish raised their points total to 22, placing them 14th in the league standings.
