Kigali, Rwanda – The Egyptian national handball team dominated the podium at the African Nations Handball Championship, which was held in Rwanda.
Egypt won the championship title after defeating Tunisia in the final match, which ended 37-24 in Egypt’s favor. The first half ended with the Pharaohs leading 17-10.
The Egyptian national team won most of the individual awards as follows:
Mohamed Ali, the best goalkeeper
Ahmed Hisham Sisa is the best left winger
Ahmed Hesham Dodo is the best left-back
Mohamed Emad Oka is the best right winger
Yahya Khaled is the best player in the tournament and the best right-back.
This Egyptian title is the fourth consecutive one for the Pharaohs, after they won the title in the last 3 editions.
Egypt also won its tenth African title, and succeeded in equaling the record of the Tunisian national team, which won 10 continental titles.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian national team has not lost in Africa since 2018.
The Pharaohs had an exceptional run in this edition, consistently delivering a high level of performance. They became the only team to win all their matches in the tournament and reach the final with a perfect record, confirming their dominance and technical prowess.
Egypt topped their group in the preliminary round after securing three consecutive victories against Gabon, Angola, and Uganda. They then continued their strong performances in the main round, again topping their group with a win over Algeria and a resounding victory against Nigeria.
In the semi-finals, the Pharaohs succeeded in overcoming the obstacle of the Cape Verde national team with a score of 32-26, in a strong match that the Egyptian team decided with its experience and the abilities of its players.
