Danish Jes Torop, head coach of Al Ahly’s first football team, confirmed his team’s readiness to face Tanzania’s Young Africans in their match scheduled for Saturday evening, as part of the fourth round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
Torop began today’s press conference by expressing his deep appreciation for Tanzania and Zanzibar. He conveyed his delight at being there and his hope to visit again in the future with his family. He also clarified that his complete focus is currently on Al Ahly’s upcoming match against Young Africans.
The coach stated that Al Ahly had performed well recently, scoring impressive goals, which boosted the players’ confidence. He noted that the first leg against Young Africans saw a strong performance, with two goals scored, despite missing several easy chances.
Torop explained that Al Ahly’s position in the group is excellent, and the team has three important matches remaining, starting with tomorrow’s game. He emphasized that the match will not be easy given the opponent’s talented players, requiring focus and a winning strategy to maintain their lead in the group.
Regarding Emam Ashour’s absence, Torop emphasized that the player had made a mistake, stressing that he had made it clear from day one that no one was above the team. This necessitated the punishment, and he considered the matter closed for the time being.
The Al Ahly coach added that the team played well in the first leg against Young Africans, despite the international players returning only 72 hours earlier after participating in the Africa Cup of Nations. Nevertheless, the team performed exceptionally well in both the continental match and the Egyptian Premier League.
