London, England – Liverpool manager Arne Sloat spoke about the upcoming match against Newcastle United, scheduled for Saturday evening, as part of the English Premier League competition.
Liverpool will host Newcastle at Anfield Stadium in the 24th round of the Premier League.
During the press conference, Slott addressed the topic of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and his continued scoring streak, saying in statements reported by the British newspaper “Liverpool Echo”: “It’s always about the team, and we have to put Salah in the right positions on the field”.
He added: “We try with Salah and the rest of the players to play well near the penalty area, which helps the strikers to position themselves in promising locations, and when we succeed in repeating that, the players deliver the performance expected of them”.
Liverpool’s manager continued: “Wirtz was in good positions during the Bournemouth and Qarabag matches, but he preferred to pass. I was happy with Mo’s goal because it was important for him, as well as for Chiesa and Florian to score”.
Regarding the importance of having a true right-back to support Mohamed Salah, Slott explained: “It depends on the movements of the wingers in the middle of the field. If these movements are absent, it becomes easy to isolate the winger and double the control over him, which makes the task more difficult”.
He continued: “I saw Endo making some moves in depth as well, which is different from Frimpong. It is true that Endo does not have Frimpong’s dribbling skills, but he is a smart player and is good at playing in the middle of the field”.
Slot concluded his remarks by saying: “Every player adds something different to the team, and the most important thing for me is to make sure that Mohamed Salah is in the right positions enough on the field”.
