Walid Salah El-Din, the football director of Al-Ahly club, decided to suspend Imam Ashour, the team’s midfielder, for two weeks.
He was also fined 1.5 million Egyptian pounds for failing to travel with the team to participate in the match against Young Africans, scheduled for Saturday, as part of the fourth round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
This is in addition to the player undergoing individual training throughout the suspension period.
The fine imposed on Emam Ashour is the largest in Al Ahly’s history. The previous highest financial penalty was a fine of one million Egyptian pounds levied against the same player, along with Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim “Kahraba”.
Thus, the Red player will miss a number of matches, most notably the matches against Young Africans, JS Kabylie and FAR Rabat in the African Champions League, in addition to the matches against Al Ahly Bank and Ismaily in the Egyptian League.
The Al Ahly club delegation, headed by board member Mohamed El-Damaty, departed for Tanzania in preparation for the Young Africans match scheduled for next Saturday.
