Abu Dhabi, UAE – Al Ahli of Qatar won the Challenge Cup title after defeating Al Jazira of the UAE 4-3 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw at the end of regular time.
Al Jazira met Al Ahli at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium as part of the UAE-Qatar Super Cup series.
The match began strongly for both teams, with Al Jazira threatening early on with a powerful free-kick from Nabil Fekir in the sixth minute, which went just wide of the post. Then, in the 12th minute, Al Ahli’s goalkeeper intervened to deny a dangerous attempt by Banza after he was through on goal.
