Rabat, Morocco – Ibrahim Hassan, the manager of the Egyptian national team, sparked widespread controversy with strong statements against the Moroccan press, ahead of the match against Nigeria for third place in the African Cup of Nations.
Ibrahim Hassan’s remarks came in response to a provocative question directed at Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team, during the press conference, regarding whether he attributed the loss to Senegal to the Moroccan stadiums or hotels.
Hossam Hassan refused to answer the question, saying: “It’s a disrespectful question and I will not answer”.
For his part, Ibrahim Hassan commented on the situation during the press conference, saying: “Do you win championships? You haven’t won the title in 50 years”.
The Egyptian national team failed to reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, after losing to Senegal 1-0 in the semi-final.
It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team qualified for the final match, after defeating Nigeria on penalties with a score of (4-2).
