Rabat, Morocco – Benin achieved a valuable victory over their Botswana counterparts with a score of 1-0, in the match that brought them together today, Saturday, as part of the African Cup of Nations competitions.
Benin’s national team met Botswana at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Stadium in Morocco, as part of the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Benin’s only goal came in the 28th minute through Johan Roche, when he fired a powerful shot that hit Botswana defender Tatayone Dithokwe, changing its trajectory and finding the back of the net.
Botswana then tried to equalize, but to no avail, and the match ended with Benin winning by a single goal.
With this victory, Benin earned their first three points in the tournament, after losing their opening match against DR Congo. This win also revived their hopes of qualifying for the next round of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Senegal-DR Congo match ends in a draw
The match between Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo ended in a 1-1 draw, in the game that took place at the Grand Stadium in Tangier.
The Democratic Republic of Congo took the lead first through Cedric Bakambu in the 61st minute, before Senegal responded with an equalizer in the 69th minute, through Sadio Mane.
With this result, Senegal tops the Group D standings in the Africa Cup of Nations with 4 points, while the Democratic Republic of Congo is in second place with the same number of points.
