Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian Football Association announced on Friday the departure of Alaa Nabil from his position as head coach. This comes after the expiration of his contract at the end of December.
This comes in the wake of conflicting statements between him and Helmy Toulan, the technical director of Egypt’s second national team.
Alaa Nabil, the technical director of the Egyptian Football Association, had previously stated that he was not responsible for the appointment of Helmy Toulan as coach of the second national team. He explained that the decision to select him was made by Hany Abou Rida, the president of the association, and the technical committee, and that he had no role in it.
Meanwhile, Helmy Toulan responded in a televised statement on MBC Egypt 2, saying, “Alaa Nabil, the technical director of the Egyptian Football Association, was the first to suggest my name for coaching the national team in the Arab Cup.” These contradictory statements have sparked controversy among the Egyptian public regarding the two men.
The Egyptian Football Association said in an official statement today, “The Egyptian Football Association announces that, within the framework of mutual understanding and respect, a joint agreement has been reached between the Association and Captain Alaa Nabil, the Association’s Technical Director, not to renew the contract concluded between the two parties. The statement continued that the contract lasted for two years and ends at the end of December 2025”.

The Egyptian Football Association concluded, “We wish Captain Alaa Nabil continued success in his future career”.
