Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian national football team achieved a victory over its guest Nigeria by two goals to one, in the match that brought the two teams together on Tuesday evening, in a friendly context.
Egypt and Nigeria met at Cairo International Stadium as part of both teams’ preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to begin next Sunday, December 21st. The opening match will feature a tough encounter between Morocco and Comoros. The tournament will conclude on January 18th, 2026.
Egypt’s goals were scored by Mahmoud Saber and Mostafa Mohamed in the 27th and 52nd minutes, respectively. Nigeria’s goal was scored by Chidozie Awaziem, who plays for Nantes in France, in the 45+2 minute.

The Pharaohs are scheduled to begin their journey in the Africa Cup of Nations by facing Zimbabwe on December 22, in the first round.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will meet Tanzania on Tuesday, December 23, in the same round.
