Doha, Qatar – French star Ousmane Dembele, striker for Paris Saint-Germain, was crowned “The Best” award for the best player in the world for 2025, after surpassing the most prominent stars of world football.
The Qatari capital, Doha, hosted today the ceremony for “The Best” awards for 2025.
Dembele outperformed 10 other players, including Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, who plays for Liverpool FC.
In addition to Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha, and Nuno Mendes from Paris Saint-Germain, the list also includes Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Rafinha from Barcelona, Kylian Mbappé from Real Madrid, Cole Palmer from Chelsea, and Harry Kane from Bayern Munich.
Dembele’s crowning as best player came after he had an exceptional season with Paris Saint-Germain.
Dembele played a key role in his team’s historic first-ever Champions League title, scoring 8 goals and providing 6 assists during the European competition.
He also played a prominent role in his team winning the domestic treble, in addition to reaching the final of the first edition of the World Cup.
Dembele is the second Frenchman to win the award after Zinedine Zidane. Zidane won it three times in 1998, 2000, and 2003.
“I would like to thank all my teammates, as football is a team sport,” Dembele said after winning the award.
He added, “I would like to thank my family who have always been behind me. At home and at Paris Saint-Germain, I thank Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the club president, and the coaching staff. Today I am happy to be with you”.
