Cairo, Egypt – Former Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher continues his attack on Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, a Liverpool player, amid the team’s recent poor results.
Liverpool suffered a heavy defeat at their Anfield stadium on Wednesday evening against Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Carragher told Sky Sports: “Liverpool is not a club that can be sacked that quickly. But it sees a glimpse of its future when Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson leave.”
He added: “Liverpool is different from most European football clubs, where managers are given enough time. Liverpool has never sacked a manager who won the league; it has never happened in history.”
He continued: “The problem of Liverpool’s aging players has emerged this season, after Van Dijk conceded a penalty due to a handball against PSV Eindhoven. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah once again failed to score or assist in the absence of goalkeeper Alisson.”
He continued: “Likewise, the other players did not perform well, at the level that befits them.”
He added: “Liverpool in 2018, under Klopp, began their journey to become a great team, and then seven years later came Slott.”
He added: “Alisson, Van Dijk and Salah were the main motivators for Liverpool at the beginning of that run. But Alisson is getting injured a lot now, so he doesn’t play much. Also, when you watch Van Dijk now, he’s not the same player. Likewise, Salah often looks like he’s suffering from extreme fatigue.”
He stressed: “I don’t like criticizing them, and I think some of the criticism directed at them this season as players has been harsh. Players always look for leaders in the team to step in when things aren’t going well.”
He concluded: “I have criticized Salah off the pitch. I want him to go out and do an interview tonight and talk to Liverpool fans about what the players will do, what is happening in the dressing room, to give them hope that things will improve. I don’t like to criticize them on the pitch, because they are so legendary in what they have done, and their health has deteriorated, especially with Salah.”
