Chengdu, China – The UAE national jiu-jitsu team concluded its participation in the Chengdu 2025 World Games on Tuesday with a haul of four medals. Mohammed Al Suwaidi added a bronze medal in the men’s open weight competition on the final day of the tournament.
Yesterday, the Swede won the silver medal in the men’s under 69 kg weight category. The national team now has one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.
The national team’s participation in this major international event will be remembered for its four medals. These were achieved by Saeed Al Kubaisi, who won gold in the under 85 kg weight class. Mahdi Al Awlaqi also won silver in the under 77 kg weight class. Mohammed Al Suwaidi won silver and bronze in the 69 kg and open weight classes, respectively.

Mohammed Al Suwaidi said: “I participated in this tournament with the goal of winning gold. However, ultimately, every participation in any tournament is an opportunity to learn and develop. Standing on the podium, raising the UAE flag, is a great honor. It motivates me to double my efforts and always perform better. This experience has strengthened my determination to achieve more in the future.” For his part, Helder Medeiros, coach of the national jiu-jitsu team, said: “It was a very special participation for the team. The players demonstrated their high technical skills and mental abilities. They adopted different methods and strategies in all matches. Winning four medals in a tournament of this magnitude is a great achievement. We will work to benefit from this experience to achieve greater results in future international competitions.”
