Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed concern over what he described as a decline in US and international focus on the war in Ukraine, asserting that his country no longer receives the same attention it did during the early stages of the conflict. He attributed this to the multitude of international crises and escalating tensions in other parts of the world.

Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine needs continued political, military, and economic support from its Western partners, warning that the international community’s preoccupation with other issues could negatively impact Kyiv’s ability to address the challenges on the ground and maintain the stability of its defenses.

The Ukrainian president noted that the war continues to pose a major security challenge for Europe, arguing that any decline in international support could give Moscow an opportunity to strengthen its position and potentially make further gains on the ground. He added that Ukraine continues to work with its allies to ensure the continuation of aid and commitments made in the past.

These statements come at a time of rapid developments and multiple crises on the international stage, which are capturing the attention of major capitals. This has raised concerns in Kyiv that the Ukrainian issue is fading from the global political and media agenda.

Analysts believe that the Ukrainian leadership is using these messages to garner more Western support and keep the war issue prominently featured in international discussions. This appears particularly important given the ongoing fighting and the increasing economic and military pressures resulting from the years-long conflict.

In contrast, the United States and its European allies repeatedly affirm their continued commitment to supporting Ukraine. However, discussions within some Western countries regarding the scale and future of aid have become more prominent in light of mounting economic and financial challenges.

Observers emphasize that the future of Western support will remain a crucial factor in the course of the war in the coming phase, especially given the ongoing military confrontations. Furthermore, the complex political and security landscape in the region makes Kyiv keen to ensure that its international partners maintain their interest in the Ukrainian issue.
