Aden, Yemen – The Southern Transitional Council (STC) has been monitoring the circulation on some social media platforms of an alleged announcement regarding the formation of an entity calling itself the “Southern National Council.” The STC has also noted the accompanying list of names falsely attributed to several STC leaders. Furthermore, the STC has observed the misleading promotion of the claim that the majority of members of the National Assembly and the General Secretariat have joined this purported entity. In addition, the STC has noted the unauthorized use of its name and logo in this fabricated statement.
The Southern Transitional Council (STC) categorically and unequivocally denied the validity of the alleged declaration or statement. It affirmed that the declaration or statement has no connection whatsoever to the STC, its bodies, or institutions. Furthermore, it has no connection whatsoever to the National Assembly, the General Secretariat, or any of its leadership or organizational components. The STC also emphasized that the names included in the statement were unaware of it and had no authorization or approval in any way. The statement’s contents are nothing more than deliberate fabrications and misinformation, and do not reflect any official decision or position of the Council.
The Council expressed its categorical rejection of these suspicious attempts, orchestrated by opportunistic parties with narrow agendas. These entities seek to disrupt the southern landscape, sow discord within the national ranks, dismantle the Southern Transitional Council, and incite strife among the people of the South. The Council affirmed that these transparent tactics will not achieve their objectives and will only strengthen the Council, its leadership, and its institutions, making them more cohesive, resilient, and steadfast. The Southern Transitional Council added that these desperate attempts are being made at a predetermined time, aiming to divert attention from the widespread public support and growing popular backing for the southern national project. This support was clearly demonstrated in the successive mass demonstrations, most recently the “Steadfastness and Popular Escalation” rally. This reflects the depth of public confidence in the Council and its legitimate leadership.
The Council reiterated that its work is conducted according to a structured institutional and legal framework, through its established bodies and institutions. It is also proceeding steadily according to its strategic vision, under the legitimate leadership of President Aidarus Qasim al-Zubaidi, head of the Southern Transitional Council. Al-Zubaidi is considered the political representative of the southern national project aimed at restoring a fully sovereign state. The Southern Transitional Council emphasized its categorical rejection of the use of its name or official logo by any unauthorized entity or organization. It affirmed that the Council’s name and logo are official symbols protected by law. What has occurred constitutes a clear and unacceptable violation. The leadership also warned against the consequences of continuing such practices. It affirmed that it will take all necessary legal and regulatory measures to hold those involved accountable, protect the Council’s institutions and symbols, and prevent any deliberate tampering or distortion.
